Cradle Mountain, TAS

The sky was blue and cloud free so we decided it was a good opportunity to visit Cradle Mountain. We started our journey from the seaside town of Penguin.

The GPS plotted us an adventuous route through some extremely steep and windy roads…
but the trusty Ducato took it all in its stride and we arrived safely at the Cradle Mountain Visitor Centre.
Here you pick up the mountain trail maps and some free shuttle bus passes (included in the Parks Pass). The buses leave every 10 minutes and its a quick ride to Dove Lake.  If you don’t want to do the circuit trail or the climb to Marions Lookout you can still get great views from the carpark.  Take the loop trail to the right about 100 metres and you will find a camera post for the iconic lake and mountain pic.  Jump the low fence for a self timer selfie!
We enjoyed the Dove Lake circuit trail but there is a wide range of trails to suit all abilities.

Sounds like a good way to do the 7 day walk!! Great scenery (never been there!).
